What is Plaque?

Plaque is a soft and sticky film of bacteria and food debris that accumulates on your teeth. Plaque is the main cause of cavities and gum disease and can harden into tartar if not removed daily. Brushing twice a day, flossing daily and regular dental checkups will help prevent plaque from forming on your teeth.

How To Floss

  1. Use about 18 inches of an ADA recommended dental floss.
  2. Wrap the floss around your index fingers leaving a couple of inches taunt between your fingers.
  3. Gently work the floss into the area between your teeth.
  4. Wrap the floss around one tooth and gently move the floss up and down, making sure to get under the gum line.
  5. Wrap the floss around the adjacent tooth and repeat until you have flossed between all of your teeth.
